Operation Missing Chhaya, a Radio City green initiative that began a few days ago, has given the city a shot in the arm.
Action began with a story on UdaipurTimes, about RJ Suri looking out for Chhaya after seeing her for the first time at Fatehsagar. As it turned out, Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick disclosed that the missing Chhaya happened to be the shade of the trees in the city – which was getting scarcer as the vegetation was being uprooted and mountains are being cut down to rubble.
Operation Missing Chhaya is a mission to restore the vegetation and flora of Udaipur – plantations are being initiated across the city to ensure that over time, trees and plants bless the beauty of Udaipur. Radio City along with the city administration has appealed to the residents of Udaipur to contribute to this noble cause plant saplings around your neighborhood this season.
Radio City, in association with Pukar has begun this task. This Sunday, i.e. 1 July, the team from Radio City and Pukar Foundation got together and planted 40 sapling in Barkat Colony. Youth of the city participated with enthusiasm in the initiative. Pukar Foundation has taken the responsibility of looking after these saplings. Members of all communities in Barkat colony participated in this noble mission, giving voice to a joint initiative.
UIT Chairman Ravinder Srimali contributed the saplings for this initiative. Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari, in his message to listeners of Radio City said that be it any occasion in the family – a birthday, marriage or anniversary, each family should call the Municipality and they will respond by planting a sapling with a wired cover for the safety of the sapling.
The operation does not stop here. Radio City, UIT, UMC and Pukar Foundation have come together to ensure that each Sunday in the month of July 2018 witnesses bulk plantation across the city. Join hands and share pictures of your initiative through WhatsApp on 99287 54176.
