Above points are the gist and outcome of a brainstorming session conducted for Vice Chancellors of Universities, Education and Academic experts and other members of the All India Federation of Teachers Organisation held at Udaipur.
During the brainstorming session by these experts and experienced academicians, it was concluded that participation and enforcement of pre-primary level education such as Pre-Primary, Lower KG, Upper KG, etc. created an adverse impact in the minds of toddlers, who are exposed to un-homely environment at such a slight age.
The draft was prepared by over 140 academicians and submitted to Ministry of Human Resource Development. Full of shocking content and mitigating suggestions, this draft mentions that schools were commercializing education in a big way by creating such junior classes on one end, and the current academic system in schools and colleges imposing the burden of heavy bags on the shoulders of children, something that suppressed their self-confidence, personal qualities and intrinsic talents.
It was also candidly pointed out that parents are more responsible for this fanning this kind of academic system by wanting their children to be out to school at a very early age, so that they can be independent during the day. Draft suggests that Pre Primary classes should be strictly abolished.
Commercial Mathematics of private schools reigns supreme in the increase of weight of school bags (at times a school bag weighs more than 9kgs). This had increased the sale of books and stationery enhancing the commission to the schools, the draft suggested.
With over a 100 top academic and educationist brains bringing out their suggestions through their cumulative experience, it was also suggested in the draft that the school timings for classes for level 1st to 8th be reduced to 3 hours a day, with the remaining being allotted for physical development through exercise, games and some time for extra curricular activities.
This brainstorming session was held at Nimbark College at Surajpol, Udaipur. The draft has been submitted to the Central Government.
