Under the campaign ‘Sakhi’ regulated by Hindustan Zinc Ltd. 20 Sakhi rural woman from Matoon stitched 1000 uniforms for girls in mere 19 days.

Under the campaign ‘Sakhi’ regulated by Hindustan Zinc Ltd. 20 Sakhi rural woman from Matoon stitched 1000 uniforms for girls in mere 19 days. They worked for 8 hours at a stretch in which they included cutting, measuring, sewing and also packing.

In recent past, HZL had organized a 4-day workshop for school uniforms which was conducted by Niyati Kothari. The women were trained to manufacture school uniforms for school girls.

The 20 women worked under division of labor in which few stitched, few took measurement and the rest ironed and packed the uniforms.

Head- Corporate Communication and Project Sakhi, Pawan Kaushik informed that the women will be provided with remuneration by Vedanta Foundation and HZL.

Currently, Rajasthan Government and HZL had signed an agreement under which 3055 Anganwadi have been given to HZL and Vedanta Foundation in which 1000 girls will be provided with school uniforms. Sakhi women of Matoon are making uniforms for girls while Sakhi women of Debari are making uniforms for boys.
