Udaipur observed a large rally today by the students of Guru Govind Singh School, Chetak circle and Residency Girls School, Madhuban to support Senior Citizens.

Udaipur observed a large rally today by the students of Guru Govind Singh School, Chetak circle and Residency Girls School, Madhuban to support Senior Citizens.

The schools pulled out this joint rally to mark the Senior Citizens’ Day today. In the rally, students participated in huge numbers, making it a remarkable event.

Students carried banners and posters spreading awareness about the rights of Senior Citizens, beneficiary policies of the State Government for the Senior Citizen etc and marched through the city areas.

Students gave the message that we should not forget our parents and elders who helped us to grow and earn our living.

Informing about the Senior Citizens Maintenance and Welfare Act- 2007, the rally also helped citizens to know government laws to defend the rights of senior citizens.

Some Schemes by the Central and State Government for Senior Citizens

  1. In railway tickets, 30% redemption for men and 50 % for women for the citizens of age 60 years and above
  2. In Sate Bus Transport, 30% redemption in the tickets for both male and female of age of 65 and above
  3. Redemption in Income Tax for the Senior Citizens
  4. Beneficiary money saving scheme by the Postal Department for the senior citizens
  5. Free legal Aid

There are more schemes being organized by the government for the benefit of Senior Citizens.
