Weekly lake cleaning drive was carried out at Amarkund in Pichola Lake today. The drive is started by Lake Conservation Committee in association with Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust and Jwala Jan Jagriti Sanasthan.

Weekly lake cleaning drive was carried out at Amarkund in Pichola Lake today. The drive is started by Lake Conservation Committee in association with Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust and Jwala Jan Jagriti Sanasthan. The lake enthusiast collectively removed waste from water and discussed about the conservation.

Nand Kishore Sharma, Secretary, Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust, informed that the drive was initiated few months back and removed wastes from various lakes and ponds around city.

Sharma added that team of nine volunteers cleaned part of Amarkund in Pichola Lake. They took out lots of plastic bottles and solid waste from the water.

In post cleaning discussion Anil Mehta, Secretary of Jheel Sanrakshak Samiti revealed that Sewerage Pump at Chandpol is not working since past many weeks. It clearly means that sewer waste of old sewerage line and pump house is polluting ground water of the locality. The situation is very harmful for residents of Chandpol area.

Mehta in his conversation added that construction of sewerage line from Gadiya Devra to Chandpol is pending from past 10 years. The construction on sewerage line stretched for 90 meters will help proper disposal sewer waste through recently constructed sewerage line in year 2005. The connectivity will remove use of pump house of Chandpol.

In present situation, sewer waste in seeping into ground water, as it passes through damaged sewerage line constructed nearly 40 years back, added Anil Mehta.
