World Water Day CelebratedVarious activities were organised on the occasion of World Water Day today by a number of social groups of Udaipur.

Prominent among them was a seminar on Water Harvesting systems installed in commercial and residential buildings by Dr. PC Jain, Founder, Bharat Vikas Parishad, where residential and commercial building owners gave their valued feedback on water harvesting system.

According to Dr.P.C Agrawal, a Physician by profession and owner of a commercial building, which was constructed few years back, the building faced water shortage problems in spite of having a 300 feet tube well dug up in the premises.

Around five years ago, Water harvesting was introduced in his building, and since then there have been no instances of water shortages and further the water does not need purification.

Prabhat Chaturvedi, a resident of Sector 12, Hiran Magri, had installed harvesting system in the year 2005. Prabhat said, “Quality of water is very good and rich in minerals. Conserved rain water is used even for drinking and washing dishes”.

Among other events, a debate on Water Bodies was organized at the Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust, in which a discussion on cleanliness of lakes and rivers in and around city was carried out. The participants concluded that serious and combined efforts of the residents and administration were the need of the hour, which would reduce the pollution of the water bodies around the city.
