Thirty Five years – almost half of a life time later, the Class 8th batch of 1984 – Alok School, Udaipur got together and celebrated Friendship Day.  The reunion of more than a dozen erstwhile classmates from Class 8, accompanied by their families, took place at Adarsh Farms in Udaipur on 4 August.

Memories were re-ignited, memorable incidents were recalled and shared with everybody, specially the family members.

The ambiance of a lovely farm in the midst of nature, complemented with absolute bliss weather added to the fun of the activity, which lasted the entire day.  Over 25% members of the group came from outside Udaipur, where they were either working or pursuing their business interests.  Many of them, specially those residing outside the city, had not met each other since passing out in 1984, and came face to face after 25 years.

18 friends who came together, thanks to the efforts of the local coordinators who took the pains to arrange the entire event, included Deepak Mehta, Hamid Ali, Arun Dungarwal, Anil Hinger, Paras Sharma, Virendra Jain, Sunita Sharma, Munesh Pareek, Sandeep Bhatnagar, Fazal Hussain, Manisha Savansukha, Anita Nasa Badlani, Dinesh Parakh, Vipin Porwal, Arvind Joshi, Rakesh Kumawat, Gautam Jain and Vinod Bordia.

Highlight of the event was the participation of Principal of Alok School in 1984, Narayan Ji Sharma and Anil Ji Sharma, who taught Physics and Mathematics.  Both the academicians gave short speeches and blessed the gathering with their words of wisdom.

Participation of the families of each of the 1984 batch students, made the event all the more inclusive, exciting and memorable.  A short cultural program was complimented by songs, music and games, where each of the 52 guests participated with full enthusiasm.

While the 1984 Class Eighth Energetic Eighteen got together to revive old memories of their just turned Teen years and funny incidents in school, they also shared their experiences over the later years in different schools, college and then their professional and personal adventures.  The families, in the meantime, got going with each other, creating a fusion that will last for years to come as the friends promised to meet again.

A memento was shared with each of the eighteen, as a memory of the reunion and motivation to come together and get more friends coming in during the later years.
