Happy New Year, Udaipur!! Hoping that 2021 will be much better and the pandemic will weaken and finally disappear forever. 2020 gave bad and unforgettable memories and pain. The attack of corona virus disrupting lives and encroaching upon our fundamental rights will never ever be forgotten.  

Every year the New Year is welcomed with parties, gatherings, fireworks, music and late night outs. This year the scene changed and we all know why. There were no parties in hotels as the mandates require to be followed strictly. The hustle and bustle was missing, yet people celebrated within the four walls of their houses in the company of families and close friends. Probably this was the first time for many that they welcomed a New Year with their own families.

What is a celebration without a variety of dishes? To add to the celebrations and to make it comfortable for the masses, restaurants offered special discounts on home deliveries and people relished good food without having to cook at home. The sale of cakes also went high as New Year parties seem incomplete without cake cutting. People decorated their homes as everyone wished to forget the pain the pandemic has given and these decoration and celebrations have filled everyone with a hope that 2021 will bring in a safe and healthy era.

The number of tourists that had gone up by Christmas went down by year end since restrictions were in place. These restrictions were much needed as mass gatherings can add to the spread of pandemic and it is but obvious that social distancing would have gone for a toss in the dance parties that are the highlight of any New Year party.

Let us pray that the pandemic is controlled and we get back to leading normal lives without any fear. May 2021 bring in the best for us so that good health, peace and prosperity become a part of our lives. Happy New Year 2021!!!!!!!
