The multistorey high effigy of Ravana, Kumbhakarana and Meghnath are all in place for Vijayadashmi programme today evening. Raavan’s height has been set at 70 feet this year whereas Kumbhakaran and Meghnath will be 65ft high.

A colorful program will be organized by Sanatan Dharm Seva Samiti and Baluchistan Sindhi Society of Udaipur. Gurumukh Kasturi of Sanatan Dharm Seva Samiti informed that the effigies have been loaded with fireworks. The distance between the effigies have been increased to 50-ft this year against 40-feet last year. Last year the fire sparkles from Kumbhakarna’s burning reached Ravana’s effigy and it started bursting before the artist donning Ram’s role fired the arrow at it.

A 100 ft long and 15 feet high wall depicting Lanka has also been set up with fireworks. Last night 8 workers and 4 Policemen were stationed at the ground to take care of the effigies. It may be recalled that in 2016, some miscreants had burnt down half of Meghnath’s effigy.

The procession will start at 3pm on Saturday at Sanatan Mandir in Shakti Nagar. The procession will pass from Baans gali, Surajpole control centre, Bapu bazaar, Delhi Gate, Ashwani Bazaar, Hathipole bahar and Chetak Circle before reaching stadium at 5:30 pm. Post that, at 6:00 clock the stadium lights will be shut off and there will be a grand display of cold fireworks. Sri Ram’s Tilak ceremony will start at 7:00pm and Lanka will be set on fire at 7:20pm.
