Ayodhya, known for its grand Diwali celebrations, set a new Guinness World Record this Wednesday, October 30,2024 by illuminating more than 25 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) as part of the annual Deepotsav celebration at the Ram Temple

The city not only saw a breathtaking display of lights but also marked two major world records, one for the largest number of people performing ‘aarti’ together and another for the highest number of oil lamps lit in a single event.

The Deepotsav event, held a few days ahead of Diwali, brought together thousands of visitors and devotees. Over 1,121 vedacharyas (Vedic scholars) performed the ‘aarti’ ceremony in unison, adding a sacred aura to the event.

A laser show further enhanced the night’s festivities, illuminating the Ram Temple complex and captivating the audience with colourful, choreographed light displays.

This  is part of Ayodhya's growing popularity as a major pilgrimage and tourist destination, attracting both locals and international visitors during Diwali.
