Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal Celebrates 75th Foundation Day

Udaipur, Feb 24, 2026 - On the occasion of the 75th Foundation Day celebrations of Udaipur’s Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, the annual two-day Lokanuranjan Fair was held on February 22 and 23, 2026. On the second and final day, spectacular Rajasthani folk dance performances were presented by cultural troupes from Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi, Jodhpur, and artists of Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal.

The programme began with dignitaries offering floral tributes to the portrait of founder Devilal Samar and lighting the ceremonial lamp. Thereafter, Suganaram and his troupe from Jodhpur performed a traditional recitation of Lok Devta Pabuji Ki Phad. Nooruddin Mewati and his team from Alwar presented Shivji Ka Byavla while artists of Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal performed vibrant folk dances including Devariya, Teratali and Bhavai.

At the conclusion of the event, Director Dr Laiq Hussain announced that year-long programmes will be held to celebrate the platinum jubilee year.

On Tuesday, February 24, artists will perform at a national ceremony hosted by Sardar Patel University in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand (Gujarat). On February 26, puppetry, folk dance performances and the play Pannadhay will be staged at Chittorgarh Literature Festival 2026 in Chittorgarh.

Dr Hussain also informed that an Aadi Bazaar is being held within the campus by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), showcasing tribal handicrafts, paintings, textiles, jewelry, meenakari, bamboo crafts and organic products from across India.
