B.N Marks Birth Anniversary of Veer Durgadas
A celebration on the occasion of the 374th birth anniversary of Marwar’s 17th Century freedom fighter and renowned warrior, Veer Durgadas was held in the Shri Radha-Krishna temple at the BN Institution, Udaipur on August 1.

Veer Durgadas who born on Shravan Shukla Choudas (13 August, 1639) at Salwan Kalan near Jodhpur, to Aaskaran and Bhatiani Net Kanwar. He was known for performing brave deeds since early childhood and later became a Chieftain in the Jodhpur army.
Dr. Kamal Singh Bemla spoke about the Chieftain, where he mentioned that Durgadas fought for almost 30 years against the fierce and staunch Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and succeeded in protecting and finally enthroning young Ajit Singh as the King on the mighty throne of Marwar at a very young age.
Among the qualities of Durgadas, leadership, loyalty, bravery, nationalism, generosity, benevolence and secularism were the most important and respectable ones.
Veer Durgadas also spent a good time in Udaipur and nearby and he breathed his last on the banks of river Shipra in Ujjain at the age of 81 years on November 22, 1719.
Dr. Kamal threw more light on the great fighter, about his life and deeds, and also the message and learning from the life of Durgadas. The program was anchored by Bhanwar Singh Rathore. Arvind Singh Oradi and Hemendra Singh Madara also spoke on the life of Veer Durgadas.
Flowers were offered as a tribute to Veer Durgadas and coins of Veer Durgadas were distributed at the end of the program, which was attended by many other prominent guests viz. Mahendra Singh, Surendra Singh, Rupendra Singh, Balram Singh, Deepika Jain, Hemkanwar, Meenakshi Chundawat, Krishna Kanwar apart from students and hostellers.
A movie show on Veer Durgadas is going to be held at BN Institution on August 13, 2012 for the hostel residents and other interested people.
