In order to spread the warmth of the festive season, Ramada Resorts and Spa marked the birthday celebrations of Jesus Christ by organizing a grand scale Cake Mixing Ceremony in their premises at Rampura, Udaipur.

Over 50 kilos of dry fruits comprising of raisins, black currants, prunes, glazed dates, cherries, candid orange and ginger, lemon rinds and nuts like cashews, pistachios and almonds were mixed with liquor. Guests enjoyed pouring liquor into the cake mixture and mixing the dry-fruits. The sugar content of the liquor and fruit juices will help preserve the ingredients. Later, large quantities of liquor, fresh juices and honey will be generously added to soak all the mixtures. Freshly ground spices was also added and tossed till the fruits and nuts are well coated. The mixture was emptied into large containers and will be carefully stored till Christmas, with occasional stirring and this plum cake will be served to the guests at Ramada Udaipur on the Christmas eve.

The history of cake mixing dates back to 17th century Europe. The ceremony marked the arrival of the harvest season. During this time, lots of fruits and nuts were harvested and used in making the traditional plum cake. This was saved till the next harvest, with the hope that it would bring yet another fruitful year.
