City of lakes turned into “City of ornamental threads” as the Raksha Bandhan fever took over the town.

The entire market place bore a colourful look with all varieties of designer Rakhis on display. The Rakhi vendors were kept busy all day with ladies hunting the choicest of Rakhis for their brothers.

The market place was buzzing not only by the localities but also by the huge rush from neighbouring villages. One could see huge bargaining going on in all corners of the market.

“Inflation has pushed up the rates a lot this year. Rakhis this year are starting from Rs 40 and going upto Rs 400”, said a local vendor.

On this festive occasion, Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation has announced a free travel day for all women commuters tomorrow. The free-commute will be applicable from midnight today and will extend upto midnight tomorrow.

Raksha Bandhan symbolizes the affection between a brother & sister wherein sisters tie a decorated string on hands of their brothers. The brothers in turn pledge to protect them from all problems in life.
