Dev Jhulni Ekadasi: Devotees Flock to Ghats

Scores of devotees took part in the colorful procession of Dev Jhulni Ekadasi which was celebrated on Sunday 15th Sept at several ghats (lake shores) of the city. Adorned with colorful flowers, lights and gulal, more than 40 Ram Rewadis took part in the procession.

Scores of devotees took part in the colorful procession of Dev Jhulni Ekadasi which was celebrated on Sunday 15th Sept at several ghats (lake shores) of the city. Adorned with colorful flowers, lights and gulal, more than 40 Ram Rewadis took part in the procession.

Singing hymns and chanting slogans, devotees were seen full of zest and devotion. A large number of crowds were seen at Gangaur Ghat. City’s Akhadas also took part in the procession and exhibited combat skills.

City Palace Ram Rewadi was taken out in a very royal style, lead by the band of city palace. Men dressed in the traditional Mewari attires were carrying fully decorated Ram Rewadi on their shoulders.

Devotees were also seen at other lakes and water bodies around the city. According to the religious books, on this day Lord Krishna was given a bath in River Yamuna. In the same manner the devotees take his idols to the nearby water body for a bath and are given a swing over it. The idols from the temples of Udaipur were taken in a procession.
