The Indian festive season has marked its beginning in Udaipur with Navratra Mahotsav. Over 9 days of festivity, devotees will indulge in frolics of ‘Dandiya Raas’.
On first day of the season believers established idols of goddesses in their localities and temples witnessed long queues of devotees who came for
Darshan. Today, on Navratri Utsav, idols of goddesses were lavishly decorated with precious gems and metals and temples were fitted with decorative lights. In the same sequence, ‘Dandiya Raas’ was performed in various parts of city.
Given the devotion in Sutharwada, a giant setup has been established where, like every year, a large number of devotees are expected to visit. Idol of goddess have been established at a height of around 100 feet. On the occasion, the traditional Dandiya dance was also performed by kids and teenagers of the locality.
Looking at the long festive season and ever increasing crime rate in city, local police department has appointed officers and policemen in respective areas. Officials of police department informed that use of loud speakers would be prohibited after 11 pm. They have also instructed local dandiya organizers to windup before time.
