A grand horse procession for the boys of Bhattmewara Samaj was organized from Gangaur Ghat to the Sheetla Mata temple as a ritual, a day before the Yagnyopaveet or holy thread wearing event under the aegis of Shri Laxminaray

A grand  horse  procession for the boys of Bhattmewara Samaj  was organized from Gangaur Ghat to the Sheetla Mata temple as a ritual, a day before the Yagnyopaveet or holy thread wearing event under the aegis of  Shri Laxminarayan Bhattmewara Seva Samiti yesterday.

There were fourteen boys (Batuks) in all who were made to sit on horse back with one decorated elephant leading the procession. The procession also consisted of a band group and women holding kalash (metal pots) on their heads.

The procession went to Sheetla Mata Temple for offering prayers to the deity goddess as a ritual and women danced their traditional Gujarati Garba and took blessings of Goddess.

Spokesperson Rajasrshi Mehta told that all these fourteen Batuks( Boys) will be made to wear the Holy Thread  ‘Janeu or Yagnopaveet’ with the chanting of Gaytri Mantra, which is a mandatory ritual to be performed before the age of eleven for each Brahmin boy  as per the scriptures after which only the status of Dwij ( Brahmin) and commencement of preliminary study is conferred to any boy.

Main programme and process of wearing the holy thread with vedic hawan, etc.  will be held on Monday, 1st December at 9 pm under the guidance of renowned vedic priest Dr, Bhagwati Shankar Vyas and his team at Bhattmewara Nohra, near Laxmi Temple , Bhattiyani Chohtta.
