Mr. P.K. Sarkar – Directorate General of Mines Safety, Dhanbad was the Chief Guest of the event. The event started with lamp lighting ceremony followed by 2 minutes silence for the workers who have lost their life in mines all over world. Mr. P.S. Jaitawat – Site President, Zawar Mines welcomed all the guests to the final day ceremony of 41st Mine Safety Week.
Mr. P.K. Sarkar appreciated the efforts of Hindustan Zinc towards Safety, Cleanliness and Silicosis awareness. He also praised Hindustan Zinc for the excellent illustration of Safety through exhibition at Zawar Stadium. He said that, he has learned about many new technologies in mining through this exhibition which would increase the safety of mines several folds in near future.
Mr. Laxman Shekhawat – COO Mines, Hindustan Zinc, said, “Safety is most important and Hindustan Zinc never compromises with safety. Hindustan Zinc leverages the best technologies and innovation in operations while excelling in safety performance. Silicosis is a chronic disease and everyone should be aware of its prevention, symptoms and cure.”
Mr. Amitabh Gupta – CFO, Hindustan Zinc talked about Hindustan Zinc’s growth and transition from opencast to fully underground mining.
A puppet show was organised on Silicosis awareness followed by quiz completion for guests with on-spot prize distribution.
Mr. Pavan Kaushik, Head-CC, Hindustan Zinc said, “As we are transitioning from open cast to completely underground operations, safety remains our top priority. Hindustan Zinc always focuses on on-job & off-job safety as well as encourages every individual to inculcate safety in their day to day lives. Through Being Safe initiative, Hindustan Zinc is bringing a sense of responsibility not just at workplace but also towards the families of the employees”
Also present in the event were, Mr. Narayan Rajak – Director General of Mines Safety, North Western Zone, Udaipur, Mr. A.K. Porwal – Director General of Mines Safety, Udaipur, Mr. Arvind Singh – Director General of Mines Safety, Ajmer, Mr. P.K. Kundu – Director General of Mines Safety, Udaipur, Mr. K.S. Shaktawat – General Secretory, Hindustan Zinc Workers’ Federation and employees of Hindustan Zinc.
