Youth volunteers of Udaipur celebrated the 66th Independence of India in a very unique way by hugging everyone in an attempt to spread communal and social harmony.

Seventeen boys and girls who loved to be called as ‘Volunteer Udaipur’ do not officially belong to any social organization.  They have set a team of 3-4 and placed themselves at Celebration Mall, Fateh Sagar, Dudh Talai and Jagdish Chowk.

The ‘Free Hug’ campaign was kicked off at 6pm and continued till 8:30.  Jayesh Mohta, a passionate artist and one of the founders of ‘Banyan Roots’ led the group and implemented the thought of bringing everyone close to each other in this manner.

“We believe that true Independence comes from own our self and the starting point is love and respect for each other”, said Jayesh.

“We don’t see any strangers or even a common friend as a friend, we are used to of this custom which needs to be stopped now and ‘free hug’ or ‘Jadoo ki Jhappi’ is a small step towards it”, says an active volunteer.
