The festival of Basant Panchami was celebrated with utmost devotion and joy at city’s renowned Jagdish Mandir today. The atmosphere echoed with the holiness as the sound of Bhajan mesmerized the devotees.

Many traditional and religious epics are closely connected with Basant Panchmi, most commonly known is wearing yellow color attires which is symbolic to the day. However, Damodar Diwakar, a Bhajan singer informed that Basant Panchami is celebrated to mark the birthday of Pradyuman (KamDeva), son of Lord Krishna.
“From today, till Rang Panchami (5 days after Holi) every day there will be special rituals in Mandir”said DamodarDiwakar.
The shringaar of gold and silver jewelries on Lord Krishna’s idol was also changed today with gulal and abeer.
