Jagganath Rath Yatra: All Set to GoPreparations are underway to celebrate the auspicious Jagannath Rath Yatra on 10th July. Hundreds of people including several local groups and mandals are getting ready for the mammoth procession.

According to Bhagwan Jagannathdhaam Shiv Shakti Mandir Samiti, this is going to be the first time in the last seven years that the idol of Lord Jagganath will be laden with golden attire.

A press conference was held today at Jagannathdham Mandir, Sector 7, to inform local media about the preparations of the upcoming event.

Jagannathdham was founded on 16th July 2007. Similar to the Rath Yatra at Shree Jagannath Puri, this procession has idols of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra, Balabhadra and Sudarshan.

With all its religious and social customs being performed, the program will start on 9th July, the day when the statue of the Lord will be given a Holy bath.

The whole procession route will be cleaned, while all devotees have been requested to wear traditional dresses and attire.

Tableaus of several local NGOs, Religious Groups and organizations will also be a part of the Rath Yatra. Decorated with colorful lights, tableaus will add extra attraction to the Rath Yatra.

Social Media to Promote Rath Yatra

With the increasing spread of social media, this year, Jagannath Rath Yatra will also get hi-tech, as the whole event will be covered and the video will be posted on YouTube and Facebook.

A special event page has already been created on Facebook to spread the word and invite people. A YouTube channel MyCityMyAngle will upload exclusive video coverage of the Rath Yatra to benefit those who are living in other cities or those who could not participate in the procession.
