Hours of waiting did not deter their devotion for devon ke dev Mahadev. The city actually echoed with the devotional songs in praise of Lord Shiva.

Every corner of the city where there are Shiva temples could be seen with devotees thronging in. People even observed fasts and had their first bites after attending the darshan and the arti. As early as 4 a.m., public started rushing in to the temples. The idols of Lord Shiva were covered with flowers and garlands, incense filled the atmosphere and there was no end to mantras and bhakti geets. The enchantment of mantras created an atmosphere of absolute devotion.
