Hariyali Amavas – The day, which occurs in a moonless night of the rainy season is one of the very significant day attached closely to the culture of Mewar. From many years, the day of Hariyali Amavas is celebrated in the form of a mega fair.
The Lakes of Fateh Sagar, Swaroop Sagar and the surrounding areas of Saheliyon ki Bari garden is congregated with mass crowds both urban and rural who take part in the vibrant fair at Udaipur.
For kids, it is a moment of buying all those conventional toys which are generally not available in the common market place. Sweet dish ‘Malpua’ is one of the most popular monsoon desserts.
The two-day Hariyali Amavas Mela for the year 2012 started today with all its magnificence and charm. The Udaipur administration took all the required measures to make the occasion safe and enjoyable for the citizens.
Although the smooth road of Fateh Sagar has been dug up to install barricades, the security has been beefed up also because the Governor of State Margaret Alva is on her four day visit to Udaipur.
On this occasion a women helpline has been established by Vishwa Shanku Seva Sansthan. On the first day of it more than 20 victimized women received information related to mistreatment of women.
Sunita Sharma, Founder of the helpline said that any women victimized by family can attain information through this helpline.
