Continuing with the tradition of playing traditional sport on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, several communities, business groups, schools and colleges celebrated the festival with utmost joy.

At BN Girls College, Sitolia, Dodge Ball, Kho-Kho, Rumal Jhapatta, Tug of War etc games were played by the students as well as by the teachers. Everyone enjoyed the games and displayed dignity and sportsmanship during the games. Principal of the college, Professor N L Sharma and Vice Principal Dr Renu Rathore were present on the occasion.

At Guru Nanak PG Girls College, Sports day was celebrated today in which several sports such as Sitolia, Javelin Throw, Races, Discus Throw, Chair Race etc were played. Programs started in the morning at 10 AM. All the students participated with full energy and devotion.

Finals of Intra-college Volley Ball and Cricket tournament at Vidhyabhawan Polytechnique College were played today. In the cricket finals, Civil team defeated Electrical team.

Another Cricket tournament, which was organized by Sutharwada Cricket Association, concluded today. In the tournament, 20 teams participated. Association’s Lakshmi Lal Mali informed that this is an annual cricket tournament in which natives of Sutharwada area participates. Winners of the tournament were given awards by Neel Kamal Tents.

Marble association also celebrated Maker Sankranti by organizing various games such as Tug of War, Cricket, Sitoliya etc at the Field Club in which men, women and children participated and enjoyed. Programs started with cricket in the morning at 9 AM. Chief Guests on the occasion were MLA Gulab Chand Kataria, R K Marble’s Vimal Parlok and ADM City Yasin Pathan.
