The 68th Independence Day was celebrated in Udaipur today with the flag hoisting ceremony followed by parade and series of stupendous cultural programs.

Amid heavy clouds over the city, a large number of people gathered at Maharana Bhupal Stadium to mark the special and significant occasion.
Udaipur being the host of state level Independence Day celebration this year, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje along with all state dignitaries, bureaucrats and top government officials were present in the function.
In the leadership of Shalini Raj, Parade Commander, several groups including Mewar, RAC, Hadirani Battalion, District Police, Traffic Police, Border Home guards, 5 NCC Girls, 6th Raj. NCC Air Wing, SPC, Guide Scout etc took part in the parade ceremony.
It is for the first time that 4 women platoons took part in the parade with 25 percent women in motorcycle stunt and more than 100 tribal school girls demonstrating self defense techniques.
1225 school children danced together with the national flag presenting diverse cultures of the country.
Audacious and daring stunts on motorcycles and horses received applaud from the crowd.
