Ganpati Visarjan is the end day of 10-day long celebrations of Ganesha Chaturthi festival. As per the tradition, Ganesha immersion takes place on Anant Chaturthi day, which is today i.e. 22 September 2010.
This year, people were already in high spirits with brimming lakes of Udaipur. With high zeal, various groups in procession took idol of lord Ganesha from its established place to lakes. The most famous places for immersion are Gangaur Ghat and FatehSagar besides several other water bodies but this year it took place mainly at Gangaur Ghat.
Zest of people was beyond its par as they singed and tapped their feet throughout their journey until immersion took place. This year emphasis was laid on idols of clay and other eco-friendly material so that lakes do no get polluted.
Mewar Seva Samiti, Dharmotsav Seva Samiti, Mewar Pratap Dal took initiative for all arrangements starting from taking idols from Gangaur Ghat to middle waters, removing all left over including garlands, wooden sticks etc. Every time they immersed idol at different spot to avoid accumulation at single place. On behalf of every Udaipurite, UT thanks these groups for coming forward for pollution free immersions.
Here are some exclusive photographs depicting devotional thrill of Udaipurites.
