On 26th January, 2016 when the nation was celebrating the historic day India became a Sovereign Democratic Republic with the scintillating parade at the Red Fort, IIM Udaipur celebrated the Republic day in its own fashion. The day started with flag hoisting by the members of IIMU community followed by Prof.Janat Shah, Director of IIMU, addressing the students about the need for them to be not just successful managers but also be responsible leaders of society.
The importance and respect that IIMU gives to the constitution is worth mentioning, given the fact that the institution has constitution of its own that was drafted by the students in everyone’s best interest. Later some patriotic songs were sung by the students. This was followed by a quiz on republic day post which the entire community has taken a ‘Swachata Abhiyaan’ pledge, committing themselves to help keep this nation clean and hygienic.
The students then took part in a plantation drive that was organized by ‘Prayatna- The social responsibility club of IIM Udaipur’ in collaboration with ‘Team Pukaar- Voice of Earth’, a budding group of young students from across Udaipur to protect environment and to promote urban Bio Diversity in Udaipur.
More than 30 students volunteered for the noble cause and planted neem and peepal saplings. These trees will be further adopted by the IIMU student fraternity to ensure that maintenance and regular care is given in due time.
