The city of Udaipur is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi today with high levels of spiritual enthusiasm, as the occasion calls for.

This year, Ganesh Chaturthi is on Wednesday, which is considered the day of Lord Ganesh, making the occasion even more auspicious.

On this day, people bring Ganesh idols to their home and colonies, dancing on the beats of Dhol and chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Moriya’. After the Jal Abhishek and Puja, the Ganesh idol is placed in homes for the coming consecutive 10 days.

On the 11^th day, on Anant Chaturdashi, Ganesh Idols are taken through a procession on the streets and immersed in the lakes and rivers around the city.

Various religious ceremonies started from last night. Pandals were made at various Ganesh temples in the city such as Dudhiya Ganesh at Mallatalai, Mawa Ganesh at Haathipol, Pala Ganesh at Doodh Talai, Jada Ganesh at Chandpol and Bohra Ganesh temples, drawing in a large number of devotees.

Devotees started lining up for the Darshan at Bohra Ganesh temple since last night and the numbers are expected to rise with every hour. Looking at this, traffic and parking facilities have been properly made and examined by the traffic police.

Pandit Khemraj Joshi of Bohra Ganesh Temple said that Maha-Aarti will be offered at 12:15AM and 7:10PM.

An annual fair on the occasion is organized at Bohra Ganeshji Temple, in which thousands of people come together and enjoy.

Astrologers said that all the yogas, chaughadias and nakshatras have collectively made this a very fortunate day for shopping too.
