Advent of Hindu New Year – Nav Samvat 2072 was welcomed in the form of mass processions on Friday evening, eve of the Nav Samvat. Processions approaching from three different routes of the city met at Hathipol Circle and concluded at Gangaur Ghat.
“Jyoti Kalash Sanskriti Chetna Yatra” organized by Alok Institution in association with Udaipur Nagar Nigam and various other local social and religious organizations began from seven temples with the sacred fire.
Dr Pradeep Kumawat, national secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Nav Varsh Samroh Samiti informed that sacred flames were taken from Eklingji, Bohra Ganesh, Bejnath Mahadev, Ambamata and Jagdish Temples.
The procession includes tens of motorcycle borne youths, representatives of several organizations, students of Alok School etc. The procession was also welcomed by Dawoodi Bohra Band.
The three day celebration will end today with series of programs that include the traditional greeting by students of Alok School. Dr Kumawat informed that nearly 5000 students will spread across the city today to greet everyone the Hindu New Year by applying tilak and offering Neem, black pepper and Sugar.
In the evening today, a fair will be held at Dudh Talai with massive fire cracker show.
