Wedding Season starts with Devuthni Ekadashi

On the 11th day after Diwali, Devuthni Ekadashi, better known as Chhoti Diwali is celebrated with equal passion and zeal. Earthen lamps were lighted by almost every Hindu family in Udaipur. On the occasion, around 300 marriage functions were witnessed across city.

According to the Hindu customs; Devuthni leads to the beginning of wedding season. Following the mythologies, on Devuthni Ekadashi Hindu females, organize the wedding of Goddess Tulsi and Lord Saligram’s highlighting this day further as a propitious day for wedding. Large numbers of devotees were also seen visiting the temples.

Along with lavishly decorated large temples of the city, on the eve of Ekadashi, small temples in various households were also decorated. Ornaments clad Goddess and God are wed by the women, after sunset, while, some observe fast on the day.
