The saying ‘Music takes you to Places’ has made a literal form altogether. The lead vocalist of music band Go-Go’s Belinda Carlisle will be driving an auto rickshaw across India, reaching Udaipur in March to raise money for charity.

The 56 year old Lead vocalist of one of the most successful all-female bands of all time is preparing for the 1,135 mile journey and has received her motorcycle license in Los Angeles.

The rickshaw ride will commence in March from Kolkata and will travel to Udaipur in an attempt to fund raise $25,000 to help the Animal People Alliance  which works to improve the lives of slavery survivors with economic empowerment and education strategies.

The Charity in India helps to train and employ vulnerable youth and women as veterinary technicians, dog handlers and animal caregivers.

Fans of the singer can donate to get signed copies of Carlisle’s studio albums, a Skype call from the star and a chance to ride the rickshaw with her on the last day of the journey.

The female singer will first head to Rishikesh in the New Year to undertake a Kundalini yoga teaching-training course, before setting off on a trip from West Bengal to Rajasthan.

Carlisle has uploaded a video depicting about her journey which can be viewed here.
