In what appears to be a freak firing incident, a 14 year old girl was killed on the spot when some people carrying guns attacked a youth.

As per police reports, a young man from Bujha village was having an affair with a teenage girl from Jade village, both in the Mandwa police station area of Udaipur district.  When the villagers of Jade came to know of this, some men with weapons attacked the boy in Bujha village.  When the gun shot was fired, a girl, reportedly the neice of the boy, intercepted the bullets and was killed on the spot. Four shots were fired in succession, killing the girl.

The accused have escaped from the scene after committing the crime.  Police, including ASP Anant Kumar reached the location when they were informed, the but the shooters had already fled by then.  Villagers are refusing to remove the corpse from the scene of the incident, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Whether the girl was hit accidentally or deliberately, is still being investigated.

Police, whose vehicles were vandalized by the angry villagers are trying to control the situation, which was getting out of hand due to firing from both sides and stone pelting. Additional police force from Kotda, Bekariya, Phalasiya, Gogunda and Jhadol has been deployed.
