Udaipur seems to be in grip of Idol smuggling gang as 2 temples were ransacked in three days time. A total of 20 idols were stolen from the two temples.
Aadinath Digambar Jain community temple was targetted on Friday night while Jagannath Rai temple belonging to Swarnakar Medh Samaj was ransacked on Sunday night. Both the temples fall under the Ghantaghar Police station.
15 Ashtdhatu idols were robbed from the Jain temple situated at Badnor-ki-Haveli. Some of these idols were estimated to be over 300-years-old. The idol gang then made away with 1 big and 4 small Ashtdhatu idols from the Jagannath Rai temple.
A demonstration was also organized outside the Collectorate by Jain community members on Monday to protest against the increasing incidents of theft and police inaction.
