Man gets 20 years imprisonment for minor girl's rape

Court announced the decision after hearing 13 witnesses and 21 documents under POCSO Act.

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court on Saturday convicted a 20 year old man and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a penalty of rupees 31 thousand for raping a 16 year old girl at Rajasthan's Rajsamand district.

According to the Special Public Prosecutor Rahul Sanadhya that the accused Dhanna Singh a resident of Lasadiya village on 13th June 2019 forcibly took the victim girl from her house and raped her, the matter came to light when the father of the victim girl lodged an FIR at Bheem police station on 14th June.

In the report he mentioned that the accused took her to secluded place, raped her and fled the scene leaving the victim unconcious. After regaining the conscious she reached her house and informed her mother about the incident,following which they approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Based upon the report of the victim the police launched an investigation into the matter and booked a case against the accused under various sections including section 363,376, (3),376 (2) d of Indian Penal Code and section 5(1)/ 6 of POCSO.

Following the complaint the police later arrested the accused and filled a case against him under provisions of POCSO Act. Sanadhya said that the court announced the decision after hearing 13 witnesses and 21 documents under POCSO Act.
