UPDATE – Ashraf Ikram was caught today afternoon (15th July, 2012) from his home at Mastan Pia Colony, Malla Talai. Police was after Ashraf as Chaman Ghayri and Hamme Majid pointed him as the person who sold them pistols.

3 people are arrested by a Special Police Team formed by Police Superintendent, Hari Prasad Sharma from different areas of the city with the charges of possessing Illegal arms in the evening today.

The Special Team formed particularly for nabbing people in possession of illegal arms in the city arrested Chaman Ghayri Ghayri (32), resident of Debari; Hamme Maajid Mohommad (25), resident of Salawatwadi and Rehman Khan, resident of Gandhi Nagar, Mulla Talai from Mohta Park, Chetak; Chamanpura and Mulla Talai Circle respectively in the evening.

According to a Police Official, “Rehman was arrested from Mulla Talai Circle and was carrying an illegal pistol with 2 bullets, which he had bought from Saleem, resident of Fatehnagar at Rs. 5,500.” He further added that Saleem is a history-sheeter of Fatehnagar who was arrested a few days back with the charges of dealing in Illegal arms.

Chaman Ghayri was detained from Mohta Park, Chetak Circle carrying an illegal pistol by one team of police officials and on the other hand a different team caught Hamme Majid from Chamanpura with an illegal pistol.

During the initial investigation, both Ghayri and Majid pointed out the name of Ashraf Ikram, resident of Mulla Talai as the dealer from whom they bought the gun. Chaman and Hamme paid an amount of Rs. 26,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively for the illegal Pistols they bought.

When asked, Ghayri cited out the reason for buying the pistol was for his protection due to his ongoing issues with one of the property dealers of the city.

Ashraf (dealer who sold the gun to Chaman and Hamme) is on the run revealed the Police Team as they raided his house twice today.

Chaman Ghayri and Hamme Majid are currently in custody of Hathipol Police and Rehman is with Ambamata Police.

Chaman Ghayri was arrested by the team including Bhanwar Singh, Buddhnarayan and Balwant Singh. The other team that arrested Hamme Majid includes Goverdhan Lal, SHO; Rajaq, Jagdish and Hitwari Lal.

Further investigations are in process under the case.
