Udaipur Gogunda Man takes life of own family members

A resident of Jhadoli village in Gogunda block of Udaipur district killed himself and his family of five on 21 November. The dead bodies of the man, his wife and 4 minor children were recovered by the local police from the house of the deceased.

The matter came to light in the wee hours on Monday morning when one of their neighbors spotted the man, Prakash Gameti, hanging from the ceiling of the room.  Raising an alarm immediately, the police was called to the location. Additional HQ SP Kundan Kawaria told Udaipur Times that the dead bodies of the wife and 3 children were found lying on the floor, while those of Prakash and another child were hanging from the ceiling.

Inspector General of Police, Udaipur range, Praful Kumar; SP Udaipur, Vikas Sharma; Additional SP, Kundan Kawaria; DySP, Bhupendra and Station House Officer Yogendra rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation in the matter. Additional SP Kawaria informed that in the initial investigation, none of the deceased except the mother Durga, had any injury marks. Durga had sustained multiple head injuries.  This led to the prima facie assumption that 30 yr old Prakash first killed his wife Durga and then his children, all of whom were less than 4 yrs old.

Kawaria further added that as per sources, Prakash used to work as a waiter in Gujarat and had returned home a few months ago. He was under mental stress due to the loss of job and was undergoing treatment. Kawaria also added that no suicide note was found from the scene and that the FSL team along with Dog Squad was also called at the scene to collect samples. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the local mortuary and the postmortem was conducted through the medical board.
