CBI investigation at Udaipur based Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences

Preliminary reports of misappropriation of documents and irregularities and malpractice in admission to medical college seats

The Central Bureau of Investigation initiated a search operation and raid at the Udaipur based Pacific College of Medical Sciences on Tuesday, 1 March.

CBI teams from Delhi and Jodhpur conducted the joint operation on Tuesday, during which the Principal and Controller of the unit at Umarda were interrogated throughout the day and documents were examined. Prelimanry reports suggest that there has been mismanagement and malpractices with regards to admissions to the Medical College seats as well as tampering of documents.

As per reports on the investigation, the CBI team first raided the hospital unit at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences, Umarda. Documents were examined and after a 90 minute search operation, the team reached the medical college at PIMS. The investigation team summoned senior officers from the Accounting department and other administrative departments of PIMS. Post a fairly stretched interrogation, the team examined documents pertaining to admissions of students at the college and some documents were confiscated.

Though the investigation team as well as the bureau have yet to present officlal statements on the findings, it is reported that two days back, irregularities were reported to the Bureau after which the search operation was conducted at this scale. The information related to outdoor and indoor patients and facilites was not as per the regulatory guidelines of the health department.
