Udaipur Police arrest drug peddler in Udaipur, suspect a nexus of peddlers, arms suppliers and fake currency notes is active in the city

In a major exercise on Sunday, the Udaipur police nabbed a drug dealer who has been supplying MDMA drugs in the city. The police seized 330 grams of drugs,4 fire arms including 2 pistols and 2 revolvers and fake currency notes of Rs.20000, all in 200 rupee denomination from his custody. Deepesh Patidar, 32, a resident of Pratapgarh was arrested when he was roaming within Jairam Colony at Thokar Choraha, with a white plastic bag.

As he was under survilence, a joint team of Pratap Nagar police station and STF was waiting for him. Seeing the police approaching, Patidar rushed towards a white SUV parked a few meters away. However the police nabbed him down before he could abscond. Police have also seized 70 live bullets from his car.

Additional SP City, Chandrasheel Thakur said that Patidar, who operates a liqour shop in the city procured MDMA in huge quantity and supplied to various people (peddlers). It is suspected that he is major middle man and supplies not only MDMA but also illegal arms to various people in the city.  The weapons he supplies are of superior quality that resemble a glock pistol or a mouser. He used to sell these weapons for between Rs. 40000 to Rs. 50000 each.

The seized MDMA was valued between Rs.12-15 lakh in the Indian market, while its worth in the international markets is estimated to be around Rs.1 Crore.The accused is being booked under various sections of IPC and is still under interrogation.  The police is also questioning him about the possession of fake currency notes.

Additional SP Thakur said, "We suspect that Patidar is a member of a crime nexus dealing in smuggling of illegal weapons, drugs and also circulation of fake currency notes.  We have received vital information from the accused so far and look forward to crack down on the nexus in the near future.

Thakur said that four constables of STF including Chandra Kumar, Ramesh Paliwal, Bhallaram and Harendra Singh played an important role in the entire operation.

He added that a speical team was constituted by SP Vikas Kumar Sharma under SHO Pratapnagar Darshan Singh and SHO Shyam Singh Ratnu that will continue to take action om the drug peddlers and other criminals in the city.
