Fake Degree racket busted in Udaipur; couple belonging to Banswara arrested by Udaipur Police

Fake Degree Racket Busted in Udaipur A Couple from Banswara have been arrested in Udaipur and are allegedly involved in a Fake Degree Racket covering multiple Universities and Colleges
The arrested couple were staying at a rented apartment near Mikado School in Meera Nagar.

The Police team from Bhupalpura Police Station in Udaipur busted a fake degree racket on Sunday, 25 September.  The police have arrested a couple hailing from Banswara in Rajasthan.

Station House Officer of Bhupalpura Police Station Hanuwant Singh Sodha informed that the police team acted upon an FIR lodged at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Udaipur.  The FIR mentioned that a couple hailing from Banswara was operating a fake degree certificate racket from a rented house located near Mikado school in Meera Nagar (100' Road, Sobhagpura).  A joint team of Bhupalpura police and Sukher police station led by Station House Officer of Bhupalpura Police Station, Hanuwant Singh Sodha raided the premises.  The police apprehended a couple identified as Prem Singh and his associate Kiran Singh, who were found with a laptop.

During the house search, the police team recovered fake marksheets, certificates and migration certificates of more than 20 education insitutes of various streams across the country including Shree Vekateshwara Institute of Uttar Pradesh; Rama College of Education; Meerut Nursery Teacher's Training Course; YBN University Ranchi; Manava Bharti Teacher Training institute Dehradun, Uttrakhand; Mewar University Chittorgarh; Board of Secondary Education, Madya Pradesh; Mahamaya Technical University Noida; Tantiya University Sriganganagar; JK State Board of School Education; Alappa University Tamil Nadu; National Institute of Open Schooling; Singhania University Jhunjhunu and Himalayan University, which were later seized.

Police have also seized a laptop, 5 bundles of Rs. 500 denomination totaling Rs. 2,76,000 in cash; fake 88 stamps of various departments and other equipment used to print the fake marksheets and certificates were found and later seized.

Both the accused have been arrested under various sections of IPS including 420, 467, 468, 472, 120b and are still under police interrogation. The couple in the initial interrogation have revealed that many of the people who have got the marksheets from them already got jobs and are working on the basis of these markssheets and certificates. They have also learnt that the couple was facing financial crises since the pandemic period and have started making the fake marksheets and certificates from last few months. They hail from Banswara and are presently staying at flat number 411 of the Lakecity Apartment located near Mikado School,  which comes under Sukher Police Station circle.

Police is now interrogating them further about other people involved in the racket and have doubt that names of many influential personalities of the city will be found to have their involvement in the racket, Sodha said.
