Special Investigation Unit of the Jaipur Anti Corruption Bureau has arrested two senior officers from the Bhilwara GST Cell, on bribe charges.
Jaipur ACB conducted raids on two offices simultaneously, one in Bhilwara and the other in Udaipur. This raid was conducted under the charge of ASP Bajrang Shekhawat of ACB, Jaipur. Addl Commissioner Bhilwara Circle Commercial Tax Department Mohammad Husain Ansari and Commercial Tax Officer Dinesh Tailor were arrested by the team at Bhilwara, along with 5 other people.
Dinesh is a resident of Pratapnagar, Udaipur and Ansair resides in Sector 12, Hiran Magri. The officers of ACB Jaipur were informed that Ansari was in collusion with a real estate broker Nilesh Agrawal, who resides in Madri, Udaipur. Ansari was caught taking a bribe of Rs 4 Lakh from Agrawal to take care of tax theft matter. After arresting Ansari, the team arrested Dinesh, who also found to be in collusion. ACB team has also arrested Raju Agrawal and Laxman Agrawal who are in the transport business in Udaipur under the same matter.
As per ASP Shekhawat, the ACB team is conducting a search operation in the offices of Commercial Tax unit at Bhilwara and on the residences of officers belonging to this office. This operation is being conducted as the ACB believes that a larger tax evasion racket is in operation at the Bhilwara office and more persons seem to be involved in this.
Director General of ACB BL Soni confirmed that the informants have provided enough data to suggest that tax evasion activities are being undertaken at the Bhilwara GST office, and that the government has been taking a hit of crores of rupees due to this collusion.
