A broad day light robbery early today morning at 9:30 was reported from the Mannapuram Finance office at Sundervas in Udaipur.
As per eye witness and police, 5 people entered the office situated at Sundervas, and held the staff and customers hostage on gun point. They wrapped up all the gold and cash at the branch and absconded from the scene.
Nearly 26 kg of Gold worth nearly Rs 13 Crore and Rs 11 Lakh in cash was looted from the branch today.
The eye witness to the entire episode was a resident auditor of the company, who was deputed at another branch in Udaipur. He gave an eye witness statement, saying that he received the call on the robbery from the Sundervas branch.
On reaching the branch, he was informed that the robbers, 5 in number entered the branch and held the staff and one customer hostage on gun point. They wrapped up the entire gold and cash inventory at the branch and fled the scene in less than 15 minutes. In all this while, none of the staff could raise the alarm as they were held on gun point. The robbers were all wearing helmets.
After the loot was reported, the addl SP (City) Chandrasheel Thakur along with DS Tapendra Meena arrived with their team to begin their investigation. CCTV footage and eye witness statement will be forming the basis of their search exercise.
