In a bizarre incident that took place in a crowded area of Udaipur earlier in the day today, a young salesman was attacked in a money heist. He thwarted the loot attempt but was subject to severe knife wounds.
Amit Sankhla, a salesman with a local finance company was on his way to the bank today morning, to deposit the accumulated cash at his employer's office. While he reached near Axis Bank at Saheli Marg, he was attacked by a few people who attempted to snatch the bag containing money from him. He resisted and was attacked with a knife, in which he sustained severe injuries. Amit is a resident of Titardi.
Keeping his wits about him inspite of the attack and injury, he entered the Axis Bank branch situated at Saheli Marg and raised the alarm. This caused the attackers to flee without the case in which the money was kept. Later it was found that the bag contained Rs 10 lakh in cash.
It is suspected that the assailants were close to the victim and a few days recce was already in place, that allowed for such a synchornised attack. The police are on the lookout for the attackers and are seeking CCTV footage from offices around the site of the attack.
