A 35 year old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near Rani Road this morning.

The body was discovered by a few locals near the shore of Lake Fatehsagar and informed Ambamata Police Station. No suicide note was found at the spot.

The deceased was identified as Ramesh Meena – Field Operator of Aastha, an NGO, residence of Reti Stand Rampura. Ramesh was working at Aastha’s Kelwara office in Kumbhalgarh District for the past few years though he was on a prolonged leave from work for the last 3 and a half months as his family was going through difficult circumstances.

“Ramesh was distressed from physical illness. His father Amarji was also not well and there were some family issues too due to which, Ramesh was suffering from depression. This could be a possible reason for the suicide,” said police officer Niranjan Alaha – SHO, Ambamata Thana.

It is alleged that Ramesh had to travel daily for his work which was becoming tough for him. He had submitted an application to Aastha regarding his transfer to Udaipur city. However, according to Bhanwar Singh – Director of Aastha there were no such issues. “We helped him whenever he asked. We even gave him Rs.10, 000 as medical allowance and closed our office in Kelwara. “Ramesh was a mentally strong man; I don’t know how could take such step,” said Mr. Singh

Ramesh is survived by his wife who is a teacher in government school and two children, a 10 yr old girl and a 5 days old infant.
