ACB Jaipur arrest Enforcement Directorate (ED) Officer on Bribery Charges

 
ED Officer from Manipur Arrested Red handed by ACB Jaipur, taking Bribe of 15 lakh

The Anti Corruption Department, Jaipur, have arrested the Enforcement Officer from ED Manipur, taking a bribe of Rs 15 Lakh from a Chitfund accused.

As per information received from the ACB Headquarters in Jaipur, the Jaipur City 3 Unit of the ACB Rajasthan has arrested Naval Kishore Meena, an Enforcement Officer of the ED Imphal, Manipur Sub Zone office and his associate Babulal Meena on charges of bribery. Babulal is a Junior Assistant at the Sub-Registrar Office, Mundawar District Khairthal Tijara, Rajasthan. The two were apprehended red handed taking a brifbe of Rs 15 Lakh from the complainant.

Hemant Priyadarshi, the Additional Director General (and Acting Director General) of ACB informed that the Jaipur Unit 3 of ACB received a complaint from the complainant that he was one of the suspects in the Chitfund Case lodged with ED Manipur. The accused officers were reportedly troubling the complainant and offered to keep his name off the suspect list and also not attach his property in the said case, for a bribe of Rs 17 Lakh.

The ACB verified the genuineness of the complaint under the supervision of Dy IG Police Dr Ravi and Additional Superintendent of Police Himanshu. After verification, a team of officers including ASP Suresh Kumar Swami, Inspector Satyaveer Singh initiated a trap procedure today on 2 November and caught the two accused taking a bribe of Rs 15 Lakh from the complainant.

Interestingly, the residences of the accused Naval Kishore and Babulal at Jaipur. The residences of both the accused are in the same village, Vimalpura, which falls under Tunga Police Station, Bassi, Jaipur. Interrogation of the accused is underway under the supervision of DIG Police Dr Ravi of ACB and a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
