Anti Corruption Bureau raided a house in Amba Mata Scheme on 18th May for carrying out illegal construction.

The house is registered to Mrs. Uma Kothari, wife of Mr. Prakash Kothari, who is currently designated as Patwari in Pai Village.

“Mr. Prakash Kothari had asked for permission from the Municipal Council for the constructing of a floor of his house in 2011 but it was not granted because his house is in a non construction zone,” said Mahendra Samdani, a Junior Officer at the Municipal Council.

As the construction was deemed illegal, the Municipal Council had sealed the house in October 2011. Prakash Kothari, however, did not only carry on with the construction but also continued to live in the sealed house.

When this illegal construction came to the notice of the Anti Corruption Bureau, a team led by Mr. Rajendra Singh Jain carried out the raid and sealed the house while filing a complaint against the couple. However, no arrests were made.

Prakash Kothari claimed that he had acquired the required permission which included the approval to construct the first floor of his house and had previously paid Rs. 48,500 for the same, which was denied by the authorities.
