Civic authorities and police impeded encroachment of more than 2 kilometer of hilly area at Chitrakoot Nagar today. Three people are arrested in the case and a mild force was used by police to disperse the crowd.

Civic authorities and police impeded encroachment of more than 2 kilometer of hilly area at Chitrakoot Nagar today. Three people are arrested in the case and a mild force was used by police to disperse the crowd.

After receiving the complaint of illegal encroachment, Officials from Urban Improvement Trust, Udaipur Municipal Corporation and Sukher Police reached Chitrakoot Nagar and saw that few people have marked the land area of more than 2 kilometer with commercial interest.

“The land belongs to government and any such activities is considered illegal”, said R.P Sharma, secretary of UIT.

Acting immediately, police detained three people including a man claimed to be a temple priest and two of his assistants for encroachment. Police team has also dismantled a place of worship as it was also illegally constructed on government land.

According to sources, few people of Chitrakoot Nagar Slum Area tried to encroach the hills adjacent to Khel Gaon. The total land stretch is of around 2km, starting from Chitrakoot Nagar Slum Area till Bhairavgarh Resort.

A local of the area complained UIT about the illegal activities going on in the area for past few days.
