An Additional Engineer (AEn) and a lineman from Jhadol have been accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a flour mill owner to change electricity supply lines.

The arrested lineman, Bhanwar Singh Sisodia (circled in photo above) of Electricity Board, was caught in the act by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting 4,000 rupees bribe. Additional Engineer, Pannalal Khatik was arrested later this evening by ACB, Rajsamand

Gajendra Nagda, a flour mill owner in Jhadol, had applied for a commercial electricity connection from the board. The flour mill owner had trouble running his machines due to insufficient load as he was given the connection from a pole 100m away from Madri Feeder while another feeder’s last pole was only 50ft away.

He approached the local lineman to apply for a change of electricity supply line. The case was taken to additional engineer where they demanded an amount of 15 thousand rupees from mill owner. After inspection of the flour mill and further negotiations, both agreed on a bribe of Rs 5000. Rs 1,000 was demanded & paid on the spot.

On 29th June, Gajendra Nagda approached ACB which then verified the information.

Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Ad. SP, ACB told UdaipurTimes, “We arrested Bhanwar Singh Sisodia with a bribe of Rs 4000 while the AEn Pannalal Khatik managed to flee at the time but was later arrested by ACB, Rajsamand. It will be handed over to us soon”.

Lineman was allegedly acting as a middleman between mill owner and Additional Engineer.

This is the second arrest by ACB in last 48 hours. The team includes Himmat Singh, and Sunderlal Soni, Jitendra Sanadhya, Bhagwat Singh, Kailash Vyas, Akhtar Hussain, Munir Khan and Ram Avatar.
