Congress party members protest over an AI video blackmail case involving a lawyer; party demands transparent probe into digital evidence
Udaipur, Feb 19, 2026 - Political tensions have escalated in the city following allegations that a woman leader created an AI-generated video to blackmail a lawyer and illegally extort money. On Wednesday (February 18), Congress officials staged a protest, questioning the police action and demanding a fair investigation.
Congress District president Fateh Singh Rathore alleged that a lawyer was taken into custody over a sum of Rs 11 lakh, and unauthorised action was taken at his residence, including the seizure of pen drives and other devices. He claimed that the manner in which the action was carried out raises doubts about the police's role.
Congress leaders further claimed that instead of bringing other potential suspects involved in the case forward, efforts are being made to protect them. The party demanded a transparent examination of the seized digital devices and a fair investigation into the entire case.
A large number of Congress officials were present during the protest. The party warned that if a fair investigation is not conducted, the agitation will intensify.
