In a rather shocking incident today, a tractor trolley was caught loaded with number of cemented slabs which are used to cover the sewerage manholes. The slabs, around 100 in number are approximately worth Rs. 50-60 thousand rupees.
A case has also been registered by Bhopalpura Police on charges of causing damage to Government properties, while 3-4 unknown persons including driver fled away as soon as they were asked about their identity by the area’s councilor who fortunately arrived at the scene.
Jyoti Tank ( in photo)- municipal councilor (parshad) of ward no. 53 was on her daily area- inspection when she noticed a few men digging out the slabs from road and putting them into the tractor, when she enquired; the laborers said that they have been promised payment for their work and that they don’t know anything else.
Soon, the area councilor realized that they are stealing these slabs placed on the sewerage manholes and wasting no time she immediately informed the police.
Another facet to this incident is that the tractor number was different from the trolley attached to it, though; the driver told that the tractor belonged to someone named Ramesh Odich from Badgaon.
Jyoti Tank was accompanied by another councilor and president of Garage-Samiti- Babulal, Jyoti herself is a member of Nirman Samiti – Municipal Council.
She said that such incidents might be going on in other wards of the city too, we have to take serious action against such crimes.
