An American woman lodged a fraud complaint against couple of Udaipur who run an art gallery here for not paying the due amount to her towards sale of some of her sculptures from their outlet.

An American woman lodged a fraud complaint against couple of Udaipur who run an art gallery here for not paying the due amount to her towards sale of some of her sculptures from their outlet.

According to the complaint, the art pieces were sold for Rs. 7 Lac from their gallery. The complaint was registered by Nancy Hamilton, resident of Hawaii in USA at Ambamata police station against Bhupesh Kavadia and Tanuja who run Bougainvillea Art Gallery.

The American lady, a sculpture presently resides in Kullu (HP) and had been in Udaipur for some time. Nancy said that she had exhibited some of her sculptures at a hotel in Gangaur Ghat but the accused offered to shift them to the art gallery and pay the amount when the sculptures were sold.

Nancy agreed accordingly and her art pieces were sold for Rs. 7 Lac however, the gallery owners didn’t pay her the amount. According to Rajendra Jain, circle inspector, “There has been some confusion in the case as when the police approached the accused, they showed an email which they claimed to have been sent by Nancy asking them to transfer the money in specified bank account which has been duly done by the couple.”

The bank transfer papers also confirmed that the payment has been transferred to the account however, Nancy claims that she has not yet received any fund, the police informed.

The case is now been referred to the Cyber Cell experts to find details of the IP address from which the email was received.
